The Tees Railway Walk

A pleasant 6 mile walk through Cotherstone, Romaldkirk and Mickleton to Lonton. Parking available at Mickleton Picnic Area. This is a level walk, suitable for all ages and abilities.

Circular Waymarked Walks

Walks of 2 to 7 miles (3 to 12 km) from BarnardCastle, Butterknowle, Cockfield, Cotherstone, Copley, Bowlees, Baldersdale & Lunedale Reservoirs, Evenwood, Gainford, Staindrop, Woodland, Hamsterley, Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Cycling

Hamsterley Trail Blazers

Four cycle routes catering for different ability levels, from short family trails to a severe black route for the experienced cyclist. A 20 mile trailquest course takes in the whole forest.

Skiing

Approximately 4 miles beyond the Langdon Beck Hotel. 2x 500m tows. Skiing weekends and holidays from mid-November to Easter when conditions permit.

From absolute beginners to as brave as you dare! Instruction given by fully trained instructor on 20 acre site 3 miles from Barnard Castle. Half & full day courses. Sheep Dogs

Sheepdog Days - 'UP' on the Farm !!

Get your wellies and your whistle out and join us on our beautiful sheep farm for a fun and informative day watching and handling working Sheepdogs from youngsters to the English National Champions.

Aimed at people who have pet Border Collies and want to learn more about the breed and those who simply love Border Collies and Sheepdogs and want to get involved!

Full day from 10am - 4pm, lunch included, £75 per participant, £25 for spectator (max 1 spectator place per participant). Occasional possible chance to try your own herding dog under controlled circumstances.
